luftangrepp:

My favourite episodes of Voyager must be the ones where the Doctor explores his own, and other’s, humanity. In “Flesh and Blood" he argues that a group of holograms that have fled their hirogen makers are "like a new race". In "Tinker, tailor, doctor, spy" we get to see that the Doctor like any other human has dreams and hopes. In "Author, Author" the question of his human rights are discussed. In "Latent Image”, and to some extent “Critical Care”, the Doctor (and his crew mates) are faced with the realisation that he is no longer just the product of his subroutines.

The reason why I love these episodes, and the 7 season long development of Picardo’s character, is the same reason why I love sci-fi as a genre. It can deal with existential issues from an outside perspective and sometimes does so brilliantly.

You know, people say that “Blink” is a brilliant episode, and don’t get me wrong I agree with them, but I’ve got to say that “Midnight” is severely underrated. It’s such a thrilling and unique episode that a lot of people ignore and it’s a shame because the writing, acting and emotions it draws from the viewer really are quite spectacular.

the reason i loved Midnight was because hardly any of it was about the monster. Sure, the monster did it’s thing and that, but the majority of the episode was about human nature. It showed how easily humans would resort to murder just to save their own skin.
that’s why i loved midnight.

Midnight is definitely in my top ten favorite Doctor Who episodes of all time.

I never underestimated it. It’s my favourite DW 2005 single episode.

Dude, here, improve your night. Mine got about a thousand percent better.

"That wasn’t fruit in my pants, Andy. I was just happy to see you."

My Mom saw the two-part episode with Odo, Garak, and Tain, and now she’s told me that she thinks there was some sort of romantic history and fallout between Garak and Tain (She doesn’t know who Tain really is yet). I couldn’t help laughing.

I thought the same, too. ASDFGHJKL

"Most of us who are left, Doctor, are insane. We have to be in order to survive and emerge from our isolation. It’s the only way we can live with the pain of what we did. Or didn’t. Each of us accepts the amount of responsibility we are capable of bearing. Some accept nothing, and these people are quickly swallowed by their isolation, their insanity transformed into a rationalized evil. A smaller group accepts total responsibility, and their insanity is an unbearable burden that cripples and eventually grinds them down. The rest of us carry what we can and leave the rest. For myself, Doctor, when a corpse is too heavy to bury I try to remember to ask someone to help me."
